The Gathering 2013

Burnsong Annual Songwriting Competition - Call For Entries

Scotland’s songwriting promotion and development body Burnsong announces the opening of The Gathering 2013 - the annual invitation to submit new Scottish songs, which will be assessed by an expert panel before the winning songwriters are invited to join the UK Songwriting Festival to hone their skills in a week of intensive support and tuition at Shennanton House, Wigtownshire during August 2013 (10-17th).

In the rural setting of Dumfries and Galloway, songwriters will concentrate solely on writing, rehearsing, recording and performing songs, developing their musicianship alongside industry experts.

The competition opens on Monday the 10th of June and submissions will be accepted until 12noon on Sunday the 30th June. The selection and judging process will take place in between 1st July and 7th July with winners notified and announced thereafter.

There are no restrictions on genre, style or instrumentation though applicants may submit no more than two songs and all songs submitted must be previously unreleased (in any form) and been written in 2013. All entrants must be aged 18 or over and should be Scottish or based in Scotland. This year’s submissions will be accepted digitally through burnsong2013@gmail.com

Applicants are reminded to include a contact name, email address and telephone number alongside their submission.
